Reconnecting

I read a beautiful paragraph in a magazine the other day that really struck me.

I don’t know about you, but some of my favourite moments in life are when I am uncontrollably crying with laughter at something. For me personally, laughter is by far the best medicine and stress relief. The writer of the magazine article introduces the concept of reconnecting with our ‘fun inner- child’ and re-experiencing the awe we once had about the world around us.

This is the excerpt…

(Breathe magazine)

‘Reconnecting with your inner-child and allowing yourself to enjoy uninhabited fun and laughter can work wonders for physical and psychological well-being. It can also rekindle the sense of awe that so often diminishes as the years go by. Imagine feeling again your inner-child’s astonishment at seeing for the first time the leaves change colour in the autumn, the stars twinkling prettily in a busy night sky or a snowflake melting on a windowpane. That would be wonderful…’

It is a powerful paragraph. I know how often I take things for granted and more often that not it can be easier to moan rather than laugh. It is too easy to see what is lacking in our lives rather than opening our eyes to all the blessings we have before us.  I know personally that I often disconnect and lose my child like sense of awe because it is easier to focus on a few negatives rather than appreciating the multitude of positives. Yet how much more enriched could our lives be if for every negative we think of three positives?

Its time to reconnect.
